Two earthquakes rattled Coachella Valley Monday night

Two earthquakes shook the Coachella Valley on Monday night.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, at 10:06 p.m., a quake with a magnitude of 3.6 and an epicenter near Loma Linda began.

About a minute and a half later, a 3.0 earthquake with its epicenter north of Banning shook the Inland Empire a little more.

Banning lies almost directly on the San Andreas Fault, which runs through California.

On Monday afternoon, two 2.5-magnitude earthquakes rattled near Holtville, an Imperial County city that also lies along the fault, according to the USGS.
